Services
Three services,
one standard of care
From a light check to a patient restoration, every path through Kala begins with an honest assessment and proceeds only at the pace your watch needs.
Back to HomeOur approach
How every service begins
Initial conversation
You describe the watch and what you have noticed. We ask a few questions and suggest a time to bring it in.
Assessment & photography
We examine the watch at the bench, photograph its condition, and write a clear note on what we find.
Written quote & your decision
We share a fixed written estimate. You decide whether to proceed, adjust scope, or collect the watch with no charge.
Service & documentation
The work is completed and documented. You collect the watch with a written service record and timegrapher results.
Gentle Service & Check
An unhurried first service for a watch you would like to wear regularly again. We clean the accessible components without full disassembly, apply fresh lubrication to the areas that will benefit most, gently regulate the timing, and review the condition of the seals and crown. Afterwards, you receive a clear, honest note on the watch's condition — including observations about areas that may need further attention later. There is no obligation to proceed with additional work; this service is a calm starting point.
- Accessible component cleaning and fresh lubrication
- Timing regulated on timegrapher
- Seal and crown condition reviewed
- Written condition note with observations
- Typical duration: 1–2 weeks
Suitable for: watches not worn for 6–18 months, watches keeping slight time but still running, first-time service check on a recent acquisition.
Full Movement Service
A complete service for mechanical watches that have drifted noticeably from steady timekeeping, or that have not been serviced in five or more years. The movement is fully disassembled, and each component is examined before being placed into an ultrasonic cleaner. After cleaning, the movement is re-assembled with new lubricants appropriate to each part. The balance and mainspring are reviewed — and replaced if necessary — and timing is regulated and verified across six positions on the timegrapher. Seals are renewed and the crown is inspected for wear.
- Complete disassembly, examination, and ultrasonic clean
- Balance wheel and mainspring reviewed
- Grade-appropriate lubrication throughout
- Regulation and timegrapher testing across positions
- Seals renewed, crown inspected
- Written service record with timegrapher results
- Typical duration: approx. 3 weeks
Suitable for: watches in regular use that are keeping noticeably erratic time, or any mechanical watch that has not been serviced in five or more years.
Considered Restoration
A patient restoration for older or personally significant watches. The service begins with a complete movement overhaul as described above — every component cleaned, inspected, lubricated, and tested. Beyond the movement, we turn our attention to the case and dial: scratches on the case, the condition of the crystal, the state of the dial surface, the colour and wear of the hands. Before any cosmetic work is performed, we discuss each option with you. Nothing is polished, resurfaced, or otherwise altered without your agreement. The original character of the piece is kept intact wherever you wish. The entire process is documented with photography, and you receive a full record at the end.
- Complete movement overhaul (as full service above)
- Case and dial conservation assessment
- Every cosmetic decision discussed with you first
- Crystal, hands, and crown reviewed
- Photographic documentation throughout
- Full written record provided on collection
- Typical duration: 5–8 weeks
Suitable for: vintage pieces, inherited watches, or any timepiece with personal significance that warrants considered, careful attention.

Standards
Applied across all three services
Individual handling only
Each watch is worked on separately, not alongside other pieces. It is stored in a closed, secure cabinet when not actively at the bench.
Grade-appropriate lubricants
We use lubricants designed for horological applications at the correct viscosity for each part — mainspring, keyless works, escapement, and jewels.
Timegrapher verification
Every regulated movement is verified on a timegrapher. Results are recorded and provided to the client as part of the service documentation.
Written documentation
You receive a written record of work performed for every job. This includes observations, timing results, and any parts replaced or repaired.
Fixed pricing, no hidden additions
The written estimate is the price you pay. Any unexpected complexity found after opening the watch is discussed before additional work is agreed.
Post-service follow-up
For full movement services and restorations, we invite you to share the watch's performance after 2–3 weeks of wear. Minor adjustments are addressed at no charge.
Pricing
Clear figures, no estimates with asterisks
Prices shown are for the service itself. Parts, if needed and agreed, are discussed separately before any work begins.
