Your watch, attended to
without haste
Mechanical watch servicing and restoration in the heart of Bangkok. Each piece is examined carefully, and nothing is done without your understanding.
What we offer
Three ways to care for a watch
Whether your watch needs a light touch or a thorough overhaul, we begin with an honest conversation about its condition and your wishes.
Gentle Service & Check
An unhurried first service for a watch you would like to wear regularly again. We clean accessible parts, apply fresh lubrication, regulate the timing gently, and review the seals and crown. A clear note on the watch's condition follows.
- Light cleaning & lubrication
- Timing regulation
- Seal & crown review
- Condition report included
- Approx. 1–2 weeks
Full Movement Service
A complete service for mechanical watches that have drifted from steady timekeeping. The movement is disassembled, cleaned, and re-oiled. The balance and mainspring are reviewed, and timing is regulated across positions.
- Full disassembly & ultrasonic clean
- Balance & mainspring review
- Multi-position regulation
- Seal renewal & crown check
- Approx. 3 weeks
Considered Restoration
A patient restoration for older or meaningful watches. Beyond a complete overhaul, we conserve the case and dial with care, discussing each cosmetic choice with you so nothing is altered without your wish.
- Complete movement overhaul
- Case & dial conservation
- Every cosmetic choice discussed
- Work documented throughout
- 5–8 weeks
Why Kala
Working the way a good workshop should
Honest Assessment First
Every watch is assessed before any work begins. You receive a clear, straightforward note on its condition and a recommended path forward — with no obligation to proceed.
Nothing Done Without Your Knowledge
For restoration work, every cosmetic decision is discussed with you first. We preserve what makes a watch yours, and alter nothing without your understanding.
Mechanical Expertise
Our focus is entirely on mechanical movements. This specialisation means a deeper familiarity with the nuances of each calibre type we encounter.
Realistic Timelines
We share an honest estimate for each job and keep you informed. Work is completed with care, not speed — though we respect that waiting has its own weight.
Careful Handling Throughout
Watches are stored securely and handled individually. Each piece is tracked from drop-off to collection, and we photograph the condition on arrival.
Clear Communication
You will hear from us at each significant stage of the work. Questions are welcome at any point, and we write to you in plain, accessible language.
In your own time
Not sure where to start?
There is no commitment in reaching out. Describe your watch and what you have noticed, and we will reply with our thoughts at no charge. A conversation costs nothing, and sometimes that is all you need.
Questions
Things people often ask
How do I know which service my watch needs?
We begin with an assessment regardless of which service you enquire about. After examining the watch, we share our recommendation clearly. You can then choose the appropriate level of work — or decide not to proceed at all.
Do you work on all mechanical watch brands?
We work with a wide range of mechanical movements, including Swiss and Japanese calibres. For very specialist or rare pieces, we will tell you honestly if the work is beyond what we can offer with the care it deserves.
What happens to my watch while it is with you?
Each watch is logged and photographed on arrival. It is handled individually and stored securely throughout the service period. We are happy to share progress updates by message if you would like them.
Can I get a cost estimate before committing to the work?
Yes. After the initial assessment we provide a written estimate. No work begins until you have reviewed and agreed to the scope and cost. There is no pressure to proceed, and the assessment itself carries no obligation.
How do I bring a watch in for assessment?
Simply contact us through the form below or by phone to arrange a time. Our workshop is in Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. We prefer to meet by appointment so we can give your watch our full attention when you arrive.
Is the original character of the watch preserved during restoration?
This is something we feel strongly about. During a Considered Restoration, we discuss every cosmetic decision with you. Patina, dial condition, and case finishing are always your choices to make. We do not alter anything without your explicit agreement.
