Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2 May 2025 · Effective: 2 May 2025

1. Definitions

In these Terms, the following definitions apply:

2. Acceptance of terms

By bringing a watch to Kala for assessment or Service, or by submitting an enquiry through this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not engage our services.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement. If you are bringing a watch on behalf of another person, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

3. Service description

Kala provides mechanical watch assessment, servicing, and restoration services. Our three primary services are described on the Solutions page and include the Gentle Service & Check (฿4,300), Full Movement Service (฿9,500), and Considered Restoration (฿14,200).

All services are performed at our workshop in Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. We do not offer a postal service as a standard offering, though we may arrange this in specific circumstances at our discretion and with agreed terms.

We work exclusively on mechanical (non-quartz, non-battery) timepieces. We reserve the right to decline work on any watch that falls outside our scope or technical capabilities.

4. Assessment and quotation

All work begins with an assessment of the watch. Following assessment, we provide a Written Estimate covering the scope and cost of the proposed Service. No work commences until you have reviewed and accepted the Written Estimate.

If, upon opening a movement, we discover complications that affect the original estimate, we will contact you to discuss before proceeding. We will not extend the scope or cost without your explicit agreement.

You may decline the work at any point before acceptance of the Written Estimate and collect your watch at no charge.

5. Payment terms

All prices are quoted and payable in Thai Baht (฿). Payment is due upon collection of the watch, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We accept cash and standard bank transfers. If payment is not received within 14 days of the agreed collection date, we reserve the right to charge reasonable storage fees.

Parts, if required and agreed separately, are charged in addition to the labour fees shown in the Written Estimate. Parts charges will be discussed and agreed before any parts are ordered or installed.

6. Refund and cancellation policy

If you collect your watch before Service commences: no charge applies.

If Service has commenced: you will be charged for work completed up to the point of cancellation, at a rate proportional to the full service price.

If, following collection, you believe the Service has not been performed as described in the Written Estimate, please contact us within 14 days. We will review the matter and, where a deficiency is found to be attributable to our work, carry out any necessary adjustment at no additional charge.

We do not offer refunds for the natural limitations of aged movements or components that were assessed and noted in the condition report prior to Service.

7. Handling and liability

We take reasonable care in handling all watches entrusted to us. Each watch is photographed on arrival and stored individually in a secure cabinet.

Kala's liability for any loss or damage caused by our negligence is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or, where repair is not possible, the fair market value of the watch at the time it was received by us. We are not liable for pre-existing damage, wear consistent with the watch's age, or damage resulting from faults not identified during the assessment.

We strongly recommend that clients insure valuable watches independently before entrusting them to any workshop.

8. Uncollected watches

We will contact you to arrange collection when your watch is ready. If a watch remains uncollected for more than 60 days after notification that the Service is complete, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable storage fee. After 6 months of non-collection and reasonable attempts to contact you, we may exercise a lien over the watch in accordance with applicable Thai law.

9. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, images, and design — is the property of Kala or its contributors. Nothing on this site grants any licence to reproduce, distribute, or commercially use any content without our written permission.

10. Disclaimers

Our services are provided with reasonable skill and care, but we cannot warrant specific outcomes. A mechanical watch's performance after servicing depends on the condition of its components, many of which are subject to wear that cannot be fully assessed without disassembly. Where components are found to be beyond reliable restoration, we will inform you before proceeding.

This website is provided for general information only. We make no representations about its completeness or accuracy, and content may change without notice.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Thai law, Kala's aggregate liability for any claim arising from a Service shall not exceed the amount paid for that Service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including loss of use of the watch during the service period.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or any Service shall first be subject to good-faith informal discussion between the parties. If not resolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Bangkok, Thailand.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page. Changes take effect on the date of publication. Your continued use of our services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
